Protection From The Rabies Virus

At Revive Medical Clinic, we understand the importance of protecting yourself against the serious and potentially fatal disease of rabies. That's why we offer post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) injections to individuals who have been bitten or scratched by an animal.

Our team of experienced medical professionals will evaluate the wound and determine if you need to receive PEP to prevent rabies. If necessary, we will administer the first injection, called human rabies immune globulin (HRIG), as soon as possible after exposure. This injection provides immediate protection against the virus.

We can also provide a series of four injections of a rabies vaccine, which are given in the arm and spaced out over the course of two weeks. The vaccine helps your body build up immunity to the virus, so that if you are exposed to rabies, your body can fight it off.

Our clinic staff will monitor your condition after the injections and make sure that you complete the full course of PEP to ensure maximum protection. In case the animal that bit you is available for testing and is found to be rabid, the PEP can be discontinued.

We also educate our patients on the importance of washing the wound immediately with soap and water in case of a bite or scratch, and seeking medical attention as soon as possible to determine if PEP is needed.

We are committed to providing our patients with the highest level of care and protection against rabies. If you suspect you have been bitten or scratched by an animal, please do not hesitate to visit Revive Medical Clinic for prompt and effective treatment.
